René's current research includes analysis of relations between acoustic instruments and electronics, and practical applications of such analysis to composition and performance. Current research also includes work on topics in notation of electroacoustic sound.
René is active as a composer composition for various media, especially integrating acoustic instruments with electronics. He is also an active performer (saxophone, electronics) of recent repertoire and improvisation.
René is the recipient of awards for his work from foundations and institutions including the Eubie Blake Fund, Meet the Composer USA, the John Anson Kittredge Fund, the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music, the Danish Music Council, Danish Composers' Society, the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark, and the Danish Institute for Electroacoustic Music.
