Extracurricular Activities

Elizabeth Thomas, a student on the  Physical Education and School Sport degree, tells us all about her experience on this course.

1. Why did you choose to study this course?

Elizabeth Thomas FA
"We have access to brand new facilities."

I enrolled on this course because I am passionate about sport and wanted to continue my learning within this. I was excited to start the next chapter of studying what I love doing.

The staff on my course are very helpful and supportive, encouraging us along every step. We have access to brand new facilities on campus at City South which are ideal for the course, such as a fitness suite, sports hall and labs.

2. What opportunities have you had here so far?

"I've been given the opportunity to work for the FA as an intern."

Since starting my course I have achieved various awards, including; Swim teachers award, FA primary school teachers award and squash activators award. I have also been given the opportunity to work for the FA as an intern, promoting and coaching girls’ football.

This has enabled me to work in colleges and schools doing what I love. This was made possible due to contacts within the University.

Alongside my course I have also been able to work with children from local schools. I and my fellow students have also hosted various sports festivals. This has given us first-hand experience and knowledge required in our chosen career, teaching PE and Sport.
