Summer 2022 ceremonies

Ceremony permissions

All BCU graduation ceremonies are filmed and live streamed online, so by attending the ceremony, you and your guests should be aware that your images could be used for these purposes.

You may also be filmed during the ceremony for live web-streaming and be photographed on the ceremony day for future University publicity purposes. However, this does not include personal portraits taken by our official photographer.

Personal publicity options

You have the option to tell us if you would like your full name and award(s) to be included in the official ceremony/alumni merchandise, which includes:

  • Having your full name and award(s) included in the award ceremony brochure. Please note, if you achieved a First Class Honours or Distinction you will also have your award classification listed in the brochure. This does not affect your name being included in the award ceremony brochure if you achieved any other classification. A copy of the award ceremony is given to each graduate on the day of their ceremony.
  • Having your full name included on BCU branded commemorative merchandise such as clothing. The commemorative merchandise will be sold at the venue on the day of your graduation ceremony.

If you decide to opt out of any of the above publicity, please ensure your ceremony guests are aware of this decision. The university is unable to discuss this with third parties due to data protection laws.

If you wish to update your publicity preferences after you have completed the registration task, you can do this by emailing us at award.ceremonies@bcu.ac.uk. Please note you must do this by Monday 4 December 2023. After this deadline, you will be unable to change your preferences as the publications and merchandise will have been sent to production.

For further information on how the University collects, uses and shares your personal data for graduation purposes, and your rights in relation to the personal data we hold, you can read our full privacy statement.
