Dr Hartley completed a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Leeds before working for an orthopaedic company. Whilst working he completed an MSc in Biomechanics at Manchester Metropolitan University. Chris completed his PhD at Loughborough University, investigating ‘the effect of high impact exercise on markers of bone and joint health in postmenopausal women’ in 2020. Following a couple of short-term research roles at Loughborough Chris became a lecturer at Birmingham City University. With interests in human physiology and ageing, Chris teaches across a number of modules; leading the Research Methods module at L5 and Biology of Ageing module at L6.
