What happens once you are awarded

Requesting your award documents

Graduates are eligible to receive an official certificate and transcript alongside a digital copy of the certificate once the award has been confirmed by the relevant Faculty Student Centre. When these are available you will receive an email notification asking you to confirm the postal address you wish for your certificate and transcript to be sent to. Alternatively, you can access the postal request task on the Graduation page, under the Awards tab on MySRS.

Students who have outstanding academic-related debt to the University will not be provided with their award documents until this has been settled in full and updated on the record.

When requesting your award documents, you will be asked to re-confirm and provide the following information:

  • Full official name
  • Course details
  • Award details
  • Delivery address

Where any of the details listed are incorrect, please do not continue with your request but rather email certificates@bcu.ac.uk to have these details checked and verified with your Faculty Student Centre. Failure to do so could result in a £20 reprint fee. Once any required corrections are complete and resolved in collaboration with your Faculty Student Centre, you will then be able to continue with requesting your award documents.

Once you have requested your documents, these will be processed for printing, and once posted you will receive an email confirmation which will also include our Diploma Supplement booklet. These are posted via Royal Mail and we advise that delivery to UK addresses may take up to 10 working days. Delivery to international addresses may take up to 28 working days (a tracking reference will be provided for overseas addresses).

Unfortunately, we do not offer an in-person collection service.

If you haven’t received your award documents in the delivery timeframes above, please contact certificates@bcu.ac.uk.

Studying with a Home or Overseas partner college

All award documents are requested and sent to your partner college. If you therefore wish to receive your certificate and transcript, please contact your college to request these in the first instance. As we do not have access to your student record, we cannot provide you with a digital certificate unless this request has come directly from your college on your behalf.

Loss or damage to your award documents

If your documents have been damaged or lost during delivery, free reprints can be provided, pending evidence of your original award documents having been destroyed and made no longer useable. Therefore, when requesting reprints, do not throw away your damaged documents until advised to do so. Please visit the award document reprints page for more information.

Graduation ceremonies

Certificate and transcripts are not given out during your graduation ceremony and so requesting your documents will not affect your opportunity of being invited to attend one of our ceremonies.

For more information visit our graduation ceremonies page.
