All BCU graduation ceremonies are filmed and live streamed online, so by attending the ceremony, you and your guests should be aware that your images could be used for these purposes.
You may also be filmed during the ceremony for live web-streaming and be photographed on the ceremony day for future University publicity purposes. However, this does not include personal portraits taken by our official photographer.
Personal publicity options
You have the option to tell us if you would like your name and award(s) to be included in the official ceremony/alumni merchandise, which includes:
- Your name and award(s) included in the award ceremony brochure. Please note, if you achieved a First Class Honours or Distinction you will also have your award classification listed in the brochure.
- Your name and awards(s) in the Birmingham Mail newspaper.
- Your name on BCU branded commemorative merchandise such as clothing.
If you decide to opt out of any of the above publicity, please ensure your ceremony guests are aware of this decision. The university is unable to discuss this with third parties due to data protection laws.
If you wish to update your publicity preferences after you have completed the registration task, you can do this by logging a call via iAsk or the iBCU App. If you are a Class of 2020 graduate, you will still be able to access iAsk using your university account.
Requests need to be made before the registration portal closes on Tuesday 30 November at 4pm GMT in order for these to be removed or incorporated into any printed material.
For further information on how the University collects, uses and shares your personal data for graduation purposes, and your rights in relation to the personal data we hold, you can read our full privacy statement.
