A Visual Communication student at Birmingham City University is portraying the power of politics in her latest optical exhibit, entitled ‘The Shrine to the Spectacle’.
The mixed-media installation created by 23 year-old Bella Jackson Moss goes on display in London later this month and features religious imagery, projected animations and archive footage of Donald Trump and Theresa May.
“The project highlights media sensationalism and how technology has given rise to the deification of politics” said Bella, from Carrington in Nottingham.
“The rise in politicians using social media has led to some of them, like Donald Trump, being treated like a god.
Bella’s work can be seen at the ‘Destinations’ show at Oxo Tower Wharf in London, from 21 – 23 July.
Bella will showcase her work to professional and public audiences at the London event, alongside students from Birmingham City University’s School of Fashion and Textiles.
Fashion student Louise Howlett will be exhibiting costumes inspired by goddesses and warriors, created in collaboration with model and performer Shelly D’Inferno.
