Chrisa is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology and a Chartered Psychologist (BPS). She joined Birmingham City University in January 2013 and she teaches in the MSc Forensic Psychology and the BSc Psychology courses.
After her MSc (University of Kent) studies in Forensic Psychology she was awarded school funding to complete a PhD at the University of Birmingham which involved the exploration of the Implicit Theories of male and female perpetrators of intimate partner violence, as well as the development of computer-based indirect measures for the assessment of offense supportive cognitions in these perpetrators.
Upon completion of her PhD she was employed by the Greek Police, where she worked as a Police Psychologist. During this time she was trained in Crisis (hostage) Negotiations and acted as a consultant in various incidents working with the Police’s negotiators team. She was also a Psychology Lecturer at the Hellenic Police Academy.
Before pursuing a career in Forensic Psychology, Chrisa completed an applied MSc in Cognitive Psychology and Neuropsychology (Aristotle University, Greece) and, as a Licensed Psychologist in Greece, she worked as a Clinical Neuropsychologist in the European projects DESCRIPA and EDAR, and as a Psychologist in the European project EQUAL. She has also worked in various research projects on memory and attention involving children and adults.
