Jenny Bradford

Jenny graduated as a Children’s nurse after completing a DipHE Child Nursing at UCE (BCU) in 2004, during which she was a student representative. Her career began on the neonatal unit at Sandwell Hospital soon completing her Neonatal Pathway (QIS) in 2006, then moving to City Hospital when the Trusts merged and then achieving her Band 6 in 2008.

As she moved hospitals her experience expanded to caring for Special care, HDU and babies over 26 weeks in ITU. As soon as she had qualified, she was keen to support students on placements and diversified into also supporting staff within education (new starters/QIS) on the units and the completion of her PGCE in 2015. This all provided a foundation for her role as a Band 7, Lead Clinical Educator at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital starting end of 2015, caring for a huge range of babies at >22 weeks and with complex needs.

Within this role she has supported staff across the unit within apprenticeship courses, new starters, and post-registration course such as HDU and QIS. She has managed both an education team and a team of staff from the unit, whilst continuing to support and manage students.

She has implemented many new projects and education strategies with her team and has also completed her Masters in Education at the end of 2023 and has assisted in publishing an article on ‘Widening access to SHINE (Simulation to Help In Neonatal Emergencies) to include QIS students.
