Teaching is delivered by experienced speech and language therapy professionals.
Teaching Methods and Facilities
We use a range of learning and teaching methods including interactive lectures, audio/video lectures, seminars and small group work, practical/video workshops, problem-based learning groups, web based discussion and simulation activities.
Teaching takes place in lecture theatres, teaching classrooms, labs and simulation suites across the City South Campus.
Full-time students can expect to attend University for four to five days per week. Teaching can take place from 9am, throughout the day. Some lectures may be scheduled for early evening.
Speech and Language Therapy students have the opportunity to work with ‘real’ service users in the simulation activities.
Simulation opportunities offer students a safe and supportive environment in which to practice therapeutic skills and decision making. This is particularly welcomed by the students as a preparation for clinical placement.
Virtual case creator
This is an online ‘virtual’ clinic for Speech and Language Therapy. The programme enables students to experience running their own clinic, with workbooks to guide students through the programme.
