The Department of Life Sciences is committed Life sciences Departmentto delivering high-quality, research-informed teaching in Biomedical Science and Biomedical Engineering, alongside a developing Life Sciences research portfolio. Our staff have expertise in a range of disciplines including Physiology, Microbiology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics, and Bioinformatics.

The courses are designed to give you extensive practical and laboratory experience in support of your learning, in a new purpose-built environment.

Courses

You will study a range of modules on our course, equipping you with a diverse range of perspectives that will enrich your learning and enhance your career development.

The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science course will include a choice of modules in the second and third year of your study to enable you to focus your degree in a particular area.

Our courses also have either work-based learning opportunities or structured team-work for you to engage with.

The university have invested in an extension to our existing £30 million campus in Edgbaston to provide state-of-the-art learning facilities for our degrees. These include two teaching labs, equipped with an extensive range of laboratory equipment, and two research labs, which will support developing post-graduate opportunities, which may offer you the opportunity, if appropriate, to undertake your final year project in the research laboratory.
