UNIVERSITY NEWS LAST UPDATED : 15 DECEMBER 2010

Law students at Birmingham City University were honoured when the Chancellor and Lady Mayoress paid a visit to their practise mooting session on 2nd December.

The Chancellor and Lady Mayoress were invited to attend the practise session ahead of the Oxford University Press national mooting competition that evening, where the School of Law’s mooting society were competing. Forming part of the judging team, they were able to offer suggestions to Mooters Siobhan Freeman and Kevin Booton on how to improve their arguments ahead of the competition.

Graham Wright, Director of Mooting said, ‘Siobhan and Kevin certainly benefitted from the practise moot and the Chancellor's experience in political debates meant that he was able to offer sound advice. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable experience for all involved’.

The Mooting Society went on to win the Moot against Lincoln University by an impressive 11 points and will now be going on to Round two of the competition.
