Kenrick LibraryWhat will I do?

Do you want to go to uni? Would you like some expert advice on what to expect?

Then come to the Birmingham City University's "Clued up to Move up" Summer School! Learn the skills you need first hand from those in the know to help your application and start you on the road to university life and study.

The topics you will cover include exam preparation, stress management, research skills, time management, academic writing and information literacy. These sessions will be delivered in an interactive workshop style, mixing and matching the topics and allowing you to build your teamworking skills by working with young people from other schools and colleges in the region.

You will be guided and supported by lecturers from the University who support our students during their time with us, so you will be learning from the experts.

What will I learn?

Students imageStudy at university is about working on your own and in groups, managing your time and learning without anyone checking up on you, which can be quite different to school or college. This programme will help you with planning your work, managing your time effectively and how to put together a university assignment. These skills will be invaluable in getting the most out of your study in year 13 and when you go to university.

How will I get there?

Aimhigher will work with your school or college to agree transport arrangements. This may involve you travelling independently to an agreed meeting point, being brought by your school / college as part of a group or being collected by an Aimhigher minibus. Whatever the arrangements, you will either not have to pay, or will be reimbursed for mileage or the costs of public transport.
