Student job opportunity as an Aimhigher Plus coach
Aimhigher Plus is the regional arm of a national programme which aims to increase progression into Higher Education for students in underrepresented wards. This role will give undergraduates the opportunity to work with young people to develop a variety of skills to improve their educational attainment, social capital, and aspirations.
Aimhigher Plus coaches will work with small groups of up to 5 students to deliver a series of 6-8 week programmes to students who have been highlighted as having the potential to progress to Higher Education. The programmes have been developed to target barriers to progression that have been highlighted by schools and colleges within the partnership. Training and resources will be provided.
The programmes will take place at the school/college and each session within a programme will last approximately one hour. Coaches are typically expected to commit one full day per week to delivering their sessions (depending on academic timetable commitments). This arrangement is in place for one academic year, in the first instance.
The closing date for applications is the 25th September 2017.
In order to be an Aimhigher Plus Coach, ALL successful applicants will be required to undergo enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Please be aware that certain types of offences may impact on our ability to place a tutor within a school or college environment (although this is at each school’s discretion).
Therefore, we would encourage any applicants with previous offences to get in touch with us prior to submitting the application, so that we can discuss your application and advise you if we feel that there would be any problems with placement.
