From exhibiting at the prestigious New Designers show in London and winning awards at D&AD in Shoreditch, to gaining fantastic work placements in industry, our final year students have certainly ended their studies on a high.

BA (Hons) Film and Animation student, Nina Parker-Noon has had a fantastic final year! Not only was she nominated for The New Designers Screening Prize but she was also crowned the winner of The New Designers Screening Prize - People Choice Award!

“I'd done some work experience with Second Home Studio last September, and they also collaborated with our Film and Animation course in first year which is when I first met them, so it was such an honour to win this with them. It’s such a lovely place to work and they're amazing at what they do. Also they're mainly a stop-motion studio, and that’s an area of animation I'd love to get better at, so this is such a good opportunity."

And as if that wasn’t enough, Nina also won a third prize; the Visual Communication Student of The Year Award, the second time in a row that a Film and Animation student has won the title!

Film and Animation Course Director and Nina’s tutor, Matt Tromans, had nothing but admiration for Nina and her hard work. nina film and animation close up 2

Nina’s film serves as a great example of what can be achieved on our Film and Animation course and a sterling testament to her hard work, commitment, talent and creativity. We have the facilities, support and equipment to make world class films and Nina has exploited all of these resources during her time with us. She has worked collaboratively with technicians, classmates and industry professionals to produce a piece of work that demonstrates the skills she has acquired and huge potential for the future. The three awards she has won so far for her work are, I’m sure, only the beginning and Nina will undoubtedly go on to achieve great things in her chosen profession. “

Thinking about her future, Nina said:

“I think my goal is quite broad at the moment, I'd just really like to be an animator, in either a big or small studio.  That's what I've enjoyed so far when doing work experience at studios around the UK. My favourite thing is coming home after a day at 'work' and being able to say I animated a sheep dancing or elves running around or something!”

Looking back at her time on the course, Nina these words of wisdom for future students:
