Jessica joined the ADD (Academic Development Department) in 2019 as a Lecturer on the HELS Foundation Year Programme. Her role is to lead and develop modules to support students on their journey on the Foundation Year Programme. Prior to joining BCU, she has worked in a FE and HE institution teaching students on a range of courses in Early Years and Education from levels 1-5. Jessica has worked in partnership with the University of Worcester where she has delivered on the Foundation Degree in Early Years and the Foundation Degree in Learning Support. She has also been a Course Leader, a Personal Academic Tutor and a Professional Development Mentor.
Jessica’s professional background includes working in a range of Primary Schools as a Practitioner teaching and supporting children in their Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. In addition to this, she has also spent time working as an Education Welfare Officer where she supported families and children with their school attendance, behaviour and achievement in school. This involved working in a Multi-disciplinary team and liaising with Social Workers and other professionals.
