For more information please contact the Birmingham City University Art and Design Archives. We will be glad to receive any information concerning ownership of rights in works held in our collections.

Data Protection

The Data Protection Act 1998, passed on 16 July 1998, was brought into force on 1 March 2000. Anyone who holds information about readily identifiable living individuals has to comply with data protection law in managing that information. Data protection law permits individuals to know what personal information is held about them and to correct it if necessary. It also ensures that the only other people who have access to that information are specifically authorised to do so. Birmingham City University Art and Design Archives seeks to follow the Public Record Office, Society of Archivists and Records Management Society's Code of Practice for Archivists and Records Managers under Section 51(4) of the Data Protection Act 1998 (2002). All visitors to the Archives are required to sign a Researcher Agreement Form outlining their responsibilities under the Data Protection Act before accessing the Archives. Some files and records with the Archives remain closed to all researchers.
