FIFA Project 1: Evaluating the effectiveness of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme

This project will be investigating the effectiveness of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) in bolstering talent development ecosystems within FIFA's member associations. The TDS aims to elevate global competitiveness by fostering opportunities for every talent and assisting member associations in realizing their potential. By synthesizing empirical data gleaned from TDS projects with evidence-based theoretical frameworks, this project aims to provide practical recommendations and scholarly insights that can enrich talent development practices within national football associations worldwide.

Drawing on insights from football associations across the globe, this project will offer distinctive perspectives on sports policy factors critical to football talent development. Given the myriad factors influencing talent development, particularly at the organizational and global level, adopting a context-specific approach is imperative for comprehending the intricacies of talent development in football in different countries

FIFA Project 2: Analysing the impact of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme and the key performance indicators of its Member Associations

This project will analyse the development of the member associations to ensure they are creating more appropriate settings and organisational structures for optimal talent development.

Although the specific studies are to be determined by the PhD candidate and supervision team, this project will focus on evaluating the impact of the Talent Development Scheme through gathering data on the MAs key performance indicators (KPIs). Specifically, this project will analyse the development of the MAs to ensure they are creating more appropriate settings and organisational structures for optimal talent development.

This data collection will align to the 121 TDS KPIs to outline growth and areas for further development. They will also be able to illustrate whether (and how) the Talent Development Scheme has achieved it’s Calls to Action as part of the ecosystems analysis.
