Photography - BA (Hons)
Give us a brief overview of your project
For my project I have focused on creating a body of work that I can show to potential future clients in the music industry. This includes a repertoire of album art, live music events and promotional material. I have also focused on personal development too such as creating business cards and contacting promotional companies.
Why did you choose this concept?
I chose this for my project as music is a big part of my life and a dream of mine has to be a music photographer. By using the skills I have learnt throughout university, I wanted to put these to good use going forward. By using this project as a way to develop my portfolio, I have set myself up for a future career.
What processes have you been using?
I have been using a lot of post production especially for the promotional photographs. The band I worked with said they wanted a vintage look to go with their album release which was described to me as "songs you would listen to on the way to the beach". I also used Photoshop to create the album art which required layering images and creating text.
What do you hope to achieve with your project?
I am hoping this project will help me to get work with clients once I have finished university. By creating a strong repertoire I can show to clients, it will hopefully boost my appeal as a photographer.
How has your course helped you to prepare for working on your project?
The course has given me to resources and skills needed. The printing resources available have definitely been the most useful for me. I have the ability to print my work to a high standard. Also the support and help from my tutors has given me the opportunity to focus on what I need to do to prepare for the future outside of university.
