Thank you
for booking your place
An Applicant Taster Day is more in-depth than an Open Day and gives you a more tailored experience.
You’ll find out more about your course and hear about the student experience through taster sessions and opportunities to meet academic staff and current students. You can also visit our accommodation and chat to our support services. If you have already been to an Open Day, this is your chance to explore your course and department in more detail and if not, you’ll get an in-depth introduction to studying here.
Here are some of the things you'll be able to see and do during your Applicant Taster Day:

Get in-depth information about your chosen course.

Hear about the student experience at BCU, and where your course will take you.

See the facilities that you’ll have access to on your course.

Talk to your future academic tutors.

Our current students will tell you what it’s really like to study here.

Find out about finance, accommodation and student support.

Workshop 1 - Drawing with the body
This workshop will explore how artists use their bodies in the making of their work. Whether that be through gestural mark making or performance.
In the first part of the workshop, you will make experimental drawings with strange and wonderful rules and prompts. You will try drawing with awkward implements, with only a little bit of time and with physical constraints.
2.30pm
Comfort break
2.45pm
Workshop 2 - Extending the body
This workshop will explore how artists use their bodies in the making of their work. Whether that be through gestural mark making or performance.
For the second part of the workshop you will be challenged to think about performance in an expanded and potentially bodiless way. Responding to gifs and TikToks you will make exquisite corpse extensions or the inverted point of view of the videos you find. You don’t need to be in the videos yourself but use props, sounds and found clips to contribute to extending or translating existing clips.
