A BCU graduate has been named as a finalist in the Rising Star Category at the Multicultural Business & Community Champion (MBCC) Awards.

Toqeer Sajid, who graduated from our BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering course in 2023, is an entrepreneur whose nomination comes as a recognition of his inspiring journey from a challenging environment to becoming a successful business leader.

Growing up in Small Heath, Birmingham, Toqeer said he faced significant obstacles in his childhood. Despite these challenges, he has transformed his life and career, proving that it is possible to achieve success through hard work and determination. His story is a powerful testament to the potential within every individual, regardless of their background. He demonstrates that with the right mindset and dedication, anyone can succeed.

Toqeer is the Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of Sajid Investment Group, a UK-based Private Equity firm, as well as being CEO of Enviroglide Systems Ltd, a tech software company. He has become a respected figure in the business community, known for his ability to scale companies and drive successful exits. Beyond his business achievements, he is passionately committed to inspiring young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

He said: “It’s an honor to be recognized as a Rising Star by the MBCC Awards.

“My goal is to show the youth of today that a boy from Small Heath can make it legally and break free from limiting beliefs. I want to inspire the next generation to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams with passion and integrity.”

The Rising Star category recognises those who have “made a significant impact in their industry and shown exceptional promise”.

The MBCC Awards celebrate the contributions and achievements of individuals who make a difference in their communities and industries. The winners will be announced at a gala event later on Saturday 30 November.
