Billy Young- A life on death row

Acting graduate Nathalie Bazan has written and directed a new play performed at Birmingham’s Old Joint Stock Theatre earlier this month.

The play was produced by the Lying Lips Theatre Company; based in Birmingham and established by Nathalie herself, whose objective is to provide support and opportunity for young actors to get involved with the live theatre world.

Her latest production Billy Young – A life on death row, featured our graduates Sorrel Hanlon and Oliver Stanley, as well as current students Katherine Swan, Perry Jaques, Dominic Harris, Joshua Ford, Matthew Socci, James Edge, Chloe Jones and Ben Mitchell.

Set in 1961 Alabama, Texas, the play follows the journey of 18 year old Billy whose life is turned upside down upon his return from serving in the Vietnam War. The plot gives an insight into the state prisons and the death penalty still in place in some states of America today.
