A Birmingham City University graduate and mumpreneur has made it through the initial stages in Virgin Media's 'Pitch to Rich' competition to win a prize of up to £250,000 of advertising for her parenting product business.

Keira O'Mara from Kings Norton in Birmingham will now face a series of intense business interviews before being given the opportunity to pitch to businessman and billionaire Richard Branson.

"My business is Mama Designs where I create innovative products for mums and babies. I launched the business six and a half years ago when my eldest child was a baby, after spotting a gap in the market for a discreet breastfeeding cover. I now have a range of award winning products which I sell to major retailers and parents worldwide.

Keira's products have attracted interest from retail giants in previous years, going on sale in Tesco, Boots and Amazon. Keira's success was recognised when she was awarded the Alumni of the Year prize from Birmingham City University in 2011.

Keira graduated from the University in 1998 with a degree in Environmental Planning.
