Graduate Outcomes Survey
Your Story. Your Impact. Your Beyonder Journey.
Fifteen months after you graduate, you’ll be invited to take part in the Graduate Outcomes Survey – the UK’s largest annual social survey of higher education graduates.

This is more than a survey. It’s your opportunity to show where your BCU journey has taken you.
Are you building your career? Launching a business? Continuing your studies? Changing direction? Wherever you are, we want to hear about it.
Your story helps shape the future for Birmingham City University students – especially those preparing to follow in your footsteps. By sharing your experience, you inspire the next generation of Beyonders to think bigger, aim higher and go further.
How does it work?
The Graduate Outcomes Survey is delivered by HESA on behalf of BCU. You can complete the survey on most devices, and it takes around 10 minutes.
You may be contacted in a few different ways:
The survey will be emailed to you from bcu@graduateoutcomes.ac.uk. The email will include your unique link to complete the survey online.
Text message
You may receive a text from ‘GradOutcome’ containing your personal survey link. This is often the quickest and easiest way to access and complete the survey.
Telephone
You might also receive a call from IFF Research, who are working on behalf of HESA. Prefer not to receive a follow-up call? Simply complete the survey online as soon as you receive your link.
Why it matters
At BCU, we believe in bold futures and real-world impact. Your response helps us:
- Showcase the diverse careers and ventures our graduates pursue
- Strengthen courses to meet industry and professional needs
- Support future students with real, relatable success stories
- Champion the power of a BCU education
Every journey is different. Every outcome counts.
Completing the survey – what to know
If you have more than one job, you’ll be asked to tell us about your main role. This doesn’t have to be the job you spend the most time doing or the one that pays the most.
Instead, choose the role that best reflects your future ambitions.
For example, if you’re building a freelance Jewellery or Fashion design business while working in retail, select self-employed Jewellery/Fashion Designer role as your main job if that’s where your future lies.
We want to recognise your achievements properly, so please:
- Use your full job title (e.g. “Chartered Accountant” rather than “Accountant”)
- Include any professional accreditations or memberships
- Add detailed information in the duties section to showcase the skills you’re applying
The more detail you share, the more powerfully we can represent the impact of our graduates.
It’s about more than your course
Being a Beyonder is about growth beyond the classroom.
The survey is your chance to reflect on:
- The skills you developed
- The experiences that shaped you
- The confidence you built
- The networks you formed
- The ambitions you’re now pursuing
Whether you’re employed, self-employed, studying postgraduate qualifications, volunteering, travelling or exploring your next step — your journey matters.
If you’re currently undertaking postgraduate study, we’d love to hear about that too.
Share your journey. Inspire what’s next.
Your voice helps define what it means to be a BCU Beyonder.
Take a few minutes. Tell us your story. Help shape the future.
