Forward Thinking, a journal by Birmingham City University’s School of Law, has released its third volume highlighting the impact of research collaborations between student and staff across the school.
The journal compiles highlights from the School of Law’s impressive portfolio of research opportunities for students, which includes the following initiatives:
- Voluntary Research Assistantships (VRA);
- Law School Scholars;
- Specially Funded Projects (SFPs);
- British Journal of American Legal Studies Student Editors, and more.
Opportunities to work on international projects
Across the school’s research opportunities, undergraduate students highlighted in this third edition worked across international projects as voluntary research assistants.
Students on the VRA scheme have worked on high profile projects across subjects such as capital punishment, decolonising the law and preventing domestic abuse in the UK.
Student researchers have also supported submissions to the United Nation’s Universal Periodic Review, which provides recommendations on how UN member states can better deliver their human rights obligations.
Other research highlights in the third edition include students participating in academic conferences, helping to shape teaching materials, literature reviews, and collaborating on cross-jurisdictional research.
