Dr Syed Ghufran Khalid is a visiting lecturer for Biomedical Engineering within the department of life sciences, currently working with Bisola Biobaku-Mutingwende on the STEMM module for MSc students. He is also working as a MEMS engineer at Guys and St Thomas Hospital. Before joining the hospital, he had been working as a Postdoctoral research fellow at Coventry University and Anglia Ruskin University. He taught various Biomedical Engineering modules as a senior lecturer at Ziauddin University, Pakistan. Dr Ghufran also worked as a Biomedical Engineer at a company in his first employment after graduation.
Dr Ghufran completed his PhD from Anglia Ruskin University, UK, where he developed cuffless Blood Pressure estimation technology from finger pulses only (applied for patent). He received an MSc. Degree in Medical Engineering/ Medical Imaging from Royal Institute of Technology KTH, Sweden, where he developed an Electronic Sudometer which is an innovative device for hyperhidrosis patients. He did BS in Biomedical Engineering from Sir Syed University, Pakistan where he developed an innovative device called Insulcagon pump for diabetes patients.
His project was selected under the ICURe program (at Warwick University) for commercialization which provided him £20,000 for travelling around the world to attract investors. He got two consecutive travel grants from British Heart Foundation based on the quality of his research abstract at Imperial College London. He also won second prize in the poster competition at Anglia Ruskin University.
He has supervised various undergraduate research projects (local and international). Currently, he is a second supervisor of a PhD research project (International).
He has a strong interest in wearable healthcare technology development.

Dr Khalid is currently working as a MEMS engineer at Guys and St Thomas. He has also worked as a Biomedical Engineer at Noor International (Pvt) deals in medical ventilators, infusion and syringe pumps, patient monitors, blood gas analyzers.
