Chris Berry

I joined the Birmingham City University teaching team in 2022 and I teach undergraduates and postgraduates across various property-related subjects. I am a University of Nottingham Geography graduate and former alumni of the same course I teach on here at the BCU!

I am new to academia and am excited to start my PhD research project this year. I am currently working as a co-author on a research paper on placemaking and smart spaces and researching school design requirements for industry.

My background is in commercial surveying and I have fifteen years of experience in the public and private sectors. Most recently, I worked at Associate level in a varied management role at Birmingham City Council and was involved in regional projects such as the Smithfield Market relocation and Edgbaston Reservoir development.

I became a chartered member of the RICS in 2013 and now work as an APC assessor. I have a passion for helping young people in their early-stage property careers and I have spent many years helping graduates through their APC process.
