Media and Communications - BA (Hons)
GIVE US A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF YOUR PROJECT
I have created my own social media marketing agency called Elevate Media. I worked with three clients to help enhance their social media presence by integrating strategic social media management, content creation and web design. One of the clients being my own agency whereby I created my own Instagram page to help educate and network with professionals in the field. I documented each step of the process which mimics what happens in the professional world.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CONCEPT?
I chose this project because I'm passionate about social media marketing and its potential to drive meaningful results for businesses. The idea of creating my own agency stemmed from my desire to educate others as well as wanting to try out a section of the field (freelancing) which I could take into my career. I was inspired by social media managers I follow on Instagram and TikTok as they create content that I love watching and it was something I wanted to have a go at and see if I would enjoy it enough to pursue it in my career.
WHAT PROCESSES HAVE YOU BEEN USING?
Marketing is the main process used within this project. In particular social media marketing which has a lot of different processes, such as the development of tailored strategies encompassing content creation, analytics and monitoring and client reporting which are all processes I used with the project when working with each client.
WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACHIEVE WITH YOUR PROJECT?
I aim to not only learn more about social media marketing but also to develop my portfolio which I can take forward into my career. I also aim to educate more people on social media marketing by creating content for the agencies platforms. I want to be able to showcase my work through my agency which helps to demonstrate the skills and knowledge I have gained whilst being at BCU.
HOW HAS YOUR COURSE HELPED YOU TO PREPARE FOR WORKING ON YOUR PROJECT?
A range of modules helped me to prepare for creating and presenting my project. When I joined BCU, social media marketing wasn't something I thought about and it wasn't until I picked my second year module, Live Brief, that I thought about it as this module I created a social media marketing campaign for a local nail salon. This is where my love for social media marketing was born. I continued to pick modules that incorporated social media and gained experience within work placements which both help create my final major project.
