Our Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduates have gone on to star in or work behind the scenes of television shows, blockbuster movies and stage productions. Check out what some of our talented Alumni are up to this month.
Alumna nominated for Olivier award
Amy Booth-Steel, who graduated from our School of Acting in 2010, has been nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical for her role in Paddington: The Musical at this year’s Olivier awards. Winners will be announced in an event at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 12 April.
Show starring two grads nominated for Olivier award
The Boy at the Back of the Class has been nominated for an Olivier Award, which stars Acting alumni Max Jordan and Jonny Warr as Brendan the Bully and Tom. The Olivier Awards are held at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 12 April.
Alumnus leads in touring production
Connor Curren, who graduated with a BA (Hons) in Acting in 2022, is playing Raskolnikov in Northern Broadsides’ production of Crime and Punishment.
Alumni star in new film
James Greaney and Reuben J. Virdee, who both graduated from our BA (Hons) Acting course in 2023, make their cinematic debuts in Apnas as best friends Awais and Chico.
Grads star alongside each other in new BBC drama
Acting graduates Rowan McIntosh and Lucas Leach star in BBC's eight-part drama, Crookhaven, which premiered this month. Rowan, who graduated in 2021, plays Gabriel Avery in four episodes and Lucas, who graduated in 2023, plays Dorian McCarthur in four episodes.
Alumna stars in new Netflix show
Niamh Finlay, who graduated from our BA (Hons) Acting course in 2017, stars in the first three episodes in the eight-episode mystery-comedy How To Get To Heaven From Belfast. From Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee, the show follows three lifelong friends in their thirties, and Niamh plays a waitress called Lucy in the show.
Alumnus cast in Shakespeare production
Keiren Hamilton-Amos, who graduated from our BA (Hons) Applied Performance (Community & Education) course in 2014, has been cast as Snug in Birmingham Rep’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which runs from 25 April to 24 May.
Alumna reprises role in TV show
Tessa Wong, who graduated in 2018, returns to BBC’s The Capture for series 3, reprising the role of DC Chloe Tan.
Alumna stars in new movie
Nicola Coughlan, who graduated from our School of Acting in 2011, stars as Silky in 'The Magic Faraway Tree’, which is in cinemas from 27 March.
