The University has agreed a deal with Perry Beeches Academy Trust that will see a new school built on part of its City North Campus in Perry Barr.
The sale confirms the University’s determination to leave a powerful educational legacy for the Perry Barr community as it migrates more of its operations to its rapidly developing city centre campus.
Vice-Chancellor Cliff Allan said: “I am very pleased to have agreed this deal with Perry Beeches Academy Trust for the development of another school in its outstanding chain. It shows again Birmingham City University’s commitment to ensuring that young people will continue to be educated on the site for generations to come.
“Birmingham City University is well under way with establishing two major campuses – in the Eastside of the city centre and in Edgbaston – which bring our student communities closer together and ensure they have the best possible facilities in which to learn.
“Perry Barr has been an excellent home to our university for the past 40 years and we are determined we will leave the community with the strongest possible legacy.”
The Perry Beeches deal follows the sale of University land opposite the campus late last year to another education provider, the Tauheedul Free School.
