William Murray

Graduate

I undertook the automotive masters at BCU purely to get a job at the end of it. Fortunately, even though it was during the recession I was able to get a job in the automotive industry doing what I wanted. I think this is largely due to the fact that a lot of the people I have come in contact with at BCU are working closely within the industry.

Placement

I carried out a work placement with a company called Cobra seats, its just a summer placement for three months for whom I was predominantly a design engineer but also approaching manufacturers with respect to quotations. Predominantly I was working on creating 3D models of steel fabricated seats and then using those 3D models to create engineering drawings. I undertook the placement to gain experience in my chosen field of study to make sure that this chosen field of study was right for me and also the contacts that I could make within the industry.

Benefits of Placement

The experience I gained doing my placement, the design engineer skills, I incorporated that into the project which I was able to carry out with Morgan Motor Company.
