Student-run Birmingham Eastside news website was been named runner up at the Guardian Student Media Awards 2015 in the category Best Student Website.
The website was praised for its WhatsApp coverage of the general elections and its interactive approach to storytelling.
Diana Gangan, editor of the website, said that the award has given them a boost of confidence and it marks a new stage in their evolution.
"We are working on multiple projects now, all the editorial team is really humbled by the award, I think it's still hard to fully comprehend it but we are very passionate about Eastside and it's future. We hope to be back for next year's awards."
