Professor Uther is a member of the Faculty’s Executive Team. As the Associate Dean for Research, Enterprise and Innovation, she has responsibility for strategic direction for research, enterprise and innovation in Health, Education and Life Sciences.

She is also a Professor of Psychology with specialist knowledge and her expertise encompasses auditory perception, speech perception, human factors, mobile technologies and stress in the workplace. She is a sought after external consultant on the use of digital technologies.

Professor Uther has authored numerous peer reviewed journal articles, given keynote talks and has had work funded by a variety of sources including EPSRC, ESRC, Nuffield Foundation, Nokia Foundation, Sharp Research Laboratories of Europe and Gamble Aware.

Professor Uther has served on numerous scientific committees including Interspeech, IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, IADIS mobile learning among others. She was a distinguished Nokia Foundation Visiting Professor for research on the use of sound in digital applications.
