Will the Brexit transition deadline be extended?

UNIVERSITY NEWS LAST UPDATED : 17 APRIL 2020

Centre for Brexit Studies Director Professor Alex de Ruyter has shared his thoughts and views on coronavirus (COVID-19) and the impact a further three-week lockdown extension could have on the economy, gig economy and self-employed workers.

With start-ups and larger companies set to get extra UK bailout funds, is the Government doing all it can to support businesses throughout this time? Professor de Ruyter discussed which industries could fall through the net.

The expert also discussed the likelihood of a Brexit transition extension due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, after No.10 completely ruled out a possible extension. What is next for the Brexit process, and is the chance of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit even more likely now?

Professor de Ruyter also discussed how the EU are coming across and dealing with the coronavirus crisis, and if they are facing their ‘moment of truth’.
