Centre for Brexit Studies Senior Fellow Dr Steven McCabe has shared his thoughts and views on Brexit trade negotiations.
With the fourth round of talks coming to an end, and both sides stating that little progress has been made, the expert discussed what the key issues are that both sides are disagreeing with, and if they will they ever be resolved.
In a video shared today, Dr McCabe discussed the UK having until the end of June to ask for the ‘transition period’, and the likelihood of the Government requesting it to be extended into next year. He also discussed if an extension is completely off the table, or if we could see it happening at the last minute, despite Boris Johnson ruling it out several times.
The expert also discussed how likely a trade deal with the EU currently is, and what demands both sides will have to tackle before reaching the finish line.
