Can Boris Johnson move on from COVID-19 criticism?

UNIVERSITY NEWS LAST UPDATED : 11 JUNE 2020

Centre for Brexit Studies Researcher David Hearne has shared his thoughts and views on Coronavirus (COVID-19) and if Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be able to easily move on from the criticism of his handling of the COVID-19 crisis from many Tory MPs.

In a video shared today, David discussed if the Government will have to extend the transition period so that businesses can have some breathing space to deal with the impact of COVID-19 after the outgoing boss of the CBI stating that British firms do not have the resilience to cope with a no-deal Brexit after the battering of the coronavirus crisis.

The expert also discussed if trade talks could now become more promising, after the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator stated that Brussels is ready to quicken EU-UK trade talks with weekly meetings and to find ‘compromises’.
