Birmingham City University’s Centre for Brexit Studies is to host a free seminar next week to explore the impact that leaving the European Union may have on the cultural identities of English citizens.
The event follows the University’s launch of its Centre for Brexit Studies last month, created to promote engagement of both ‘Leave’ and ‘Remain’ standpoints whilst providing collaborative opportunities with businesses, professional organisations and civil society.
‘Englishness: A Sense of Identity & Inclusion’ takes place at the University’s City Centre Campus on Friday 17 February and will feature discussions on how societal can effectively enable engagement with the diversity of England’s population.
Speakers at the event include Professor John Denham from the University of Winchester’s Centre of English Identity & Politics; Liam Byrne, MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill; and Professor Julian Beer, Deputy-Vice Chancellor at Birmingham City University.
