This years National Vegetarian Week is taking place from Monday 15 - Sunday 21 of May, so whether you’re already a devoted vegan or just fancy a meat-free Monday there’s no better week to take advantage of Birmingham’s Vegan eateries.

We’ve chosen our top nine and put together a mini vegan guide to Birmingham, which you can hunt around above on our interactive map, or read all about below:

1. The Warehouse Café

The Warehouse Café pride themselves on being sustainable, eco –friendly and offering the best local produce. Offering a 100% vegetarian menu with many vegan options (including their chocolate brownie and ice cream!), The Warehouse cafe bring you the best of British comfort food.

To celebrate Nation Vegetarian Week, they will be offering one of their veggie/vegan meals each day for half price!

2. Natural healthy Foods Restaurant and shops

Natural healthy Foods have recently opened Birmingham’s first organic vegan eatery. If you’re after something healthy and wholesome the restaurant provides organic, vegan, gluten and refined sugar free food that is served buffet style where you pile up your plate and pay according to its weight. The eatery also has an adjoining store stocking organic fruit and veg and over 1,500 of your favourite health food essentials.

Natural healthy Foods also has a store located in Digbeth that offers a range of vegan ready meals, cheeses, snacks and beauty products.

The stars of the show would have to be their spirulina cacao brownie, sushi rolls and Sri Lankan Dhal.

3. Café Soya

Café Soya is an Asian restaurant that offers an extensive mock-meat menu where all the vegetarian options can be made vegan at your request. Their mock-meat dishes will surprise you with their likeliness to the real thing, especially their crispy duck pancakes, chicken skewers and spicy prawn rice.

2 Upper Dean

4. Pho

Pho Café is a Vietnamese Restaurant based in Grand Central. Pho offers low calorie traditional Vietnamese dishes with every vegetarian option also being vegan.

Dishes include: Crispy spring rolls, 3 mushroom pho, tofu ca-ri and an amazing strawberry and basil sorbet

5. Cherry Reds

Offering the best vegan breakfast (served all day may I add!), an array of homemade vegan cupcakes and an extremely popular falafel burger, Cherry Reds caters for vegans and meat eaters alike. They’re an independent company who are proud to use fresh ingredients, save the plant and support local causes too.

6. 3 Threes

3 Threes Coffee Lounge have two branches, one in the City Centre and one over in the Jewellery Quarter. 3 Three’s offer your favourite lunchtime snacks at an affordable price making it the perfect vegan hangout.

Their showstopper? A vegan frankfurter hotdog with all the trimmings for only £3!

7. Not Dogs

If you’re looking for a fast food fix then head to Not Dogs, in their own words they bring you ‘Meaty dogs without the meat’. Veggies, vegans and meat eaters can choose from a huge array of not only hot dogs but burgers, nuggets and breakfasts too.

8. Bistro 1847

If you’re happy to spend a little more on exploring your plant based options then Bistro 1847 would be the place to go. They specialise in providing a fine dining experience with ‘Modern vegetarian food created and inspired by people, place and the best of British ingredients’

9. Bodega Cantina

A South American restaurant offering vegan friendly food and an extensive cocktail menu. Think Nachos, Burritos, Tacos AND even vegan Guacamole!

And if you’re lucky enough to catch the Vegan Grindhouse on their travels they are a must! Think American Street food but all 100% plant based and meat free!
