Birmingham criminologist investigates cults and faith in new TV show

Birmingham City University criminologist, Professor Imran Awan, is starring in a new TV show examining cults, faith and those that have become radicalised and indoctrinated.

Professor Awan features in ‘Cults, Taboos and Twisted Faith’, which airs on Crime + Investigation on Monday 19 November at 9pm.

The one-off special brings together British cult survivors, victims and family members, some of whom are talking for the first time about the trauma of indoctrination, escaping from cults and how it's impacted their lives.

“Cults are not a new phenomenon”, said Professor Awan.
