STUDENT LIFE LAST UPDATED : 28 JULY 2017

Are you coming to Birmingham this August?
We’re here to let you know everything you can be getting up to over the next four weeks.
We've got all the information you need to get the most out of the dying days of summer, as the festival season winds down.
Festivals
Kicking off this months festival line up, the Birmingham Vela takes place in Cannon Hill Park on August 6. A celebration of South Asian culture in Birmingham, the free festival will feature live music, food and sport. The festival is in its 17th year, and shows no sign of slowing down!
The big one this month is of course V Festival. Held in Weston Park in nearby Staffordshire, the event takes place over two days - August 19 and 20. Day one will see performances from Ellie Goulding, Stormzy, Emeli Sande, Jason Derulo, Dizzee Rascal, and rap legend Jay-Z. Day two, you'll get to see Craig David, Jess Glynne, George Ezra, Masness, Busted, Rudimental, the Vamps, and a headline set from Pink.
Rounding us out for the summer series of festivals this year is the Solihull Summer Fest. Taking palce on the August bank holiday at Tudor Grange Park, the event is held to raise funds for Help Harry Help Others, a local cancer charity. The two day events will see performances from Peter Andre, Gabrielle, Lemar, Feeder, The Pidgeon Detectives and Toploader.
Gigs and Shows
Here is a handy guide to a tonne of music, comedy and exhibition shows that you could check out in August.
Birmingham City University
We're also getting in on the act this month, with our Open Day on August 19th. This will be the last chance for students coming to us in September 2017 to see our campus and hear about our courses. We'll have more information soon, including sign up pages, very soon, so keep an eye on our social media pages for more info!
Going to any of these events? Let us know!
