Biography

Born in London, the daughter of a violist and an artist, Rose grew up in Norfolk in a creative household where art and music were the focus of daily life. She studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and at the Royal Academy with Yossi Zivoni,Vicci Wardman and John White. Her passion for chamber music was nurtured in Manchester through studying with the late Chris Rowland and at the Academy her quartet spent a year as Leverhulme fellows of chamber music.

Her career so far has been very varied and fulfilling ,and she has spent the last 15 years playing with chamber ensembles such as Chroma, the Goldberg ensemble, Lontano, the Scottish Ensemble, Music Theatre Wales, the Chamber Players, the Le Page Ensemble and the Iuventus Quartet.

She has also gained a wealth of experience playing orchestral music with orchestras such as London Mozart Players, the Philharmonia and Orchestre Revolutionaire et Romantique, and has taken part in many BBC TV programmes with Charles Hazlewood's period instrument orchestra.

As principal viola at the Endellion Summer Festival she performed concertos under the baton of the late Sir Richard Hickox, and still enjoys regular appearances at the Festival. Rose has been a member of the Coull Quartet since March 2010 and with them has a busy life full of concerts, coaching and teaching.

A committed teacher, Rose not only teaches at Birmingham Conservatoire, but also at Warwick University; she also mentors young violists at Trinity College of Music.
