Sophia Kuyateh

Sophia Elizabeth Kuyateh is a Child Health Lecturer at Birmingham City University (BCU). She has been in post since March 2015, and thoroughly enjoys her role here at the University. Sophia maintains close links with practice and still works clinically. This enhances her credibility with the students as well as physically keeping her up to date with current practice.

Sophia obtained her BSc Hons registered general nursing qualification from University of Central England (now BCU) in 1996, and her Diploma in higher education as a registered Children’s nurse in 2000. By 2011 she had completed her MSc in cardiorespiratory nursing, and in November 2016 she was awarded her postgraduate certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (Health and Social Care Teacher).

Sophia's career background includes clinical ward nursing, as well as management of a Paediatric high dependency unit and working as a Practice Educator.
