Rachel James

Rachel is an assistant lecturer in Adult Nursing at Birmingham City University and is teaching on module NUR 4033- Providing and Evaluating Care. Rachel will also be facilitating clinical skill sessions at the University. She is passionate about Nurse Education and Pastoral Support and wants to support every student to achieve their full potential in their nursing career.

Rachel has completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Birmingham City University. She graduated with a BSc Hons in Nursing (Adult) First Class degree in 2016. She has also studied the Adult Critical Care Course in 2018 which resulted in her graduating with a Postgraduate Certificate, with Merit, in Professional Practice- Adult Critical Care.

Rachel has worked in Critical Care since qualifying as a nurse; she has worked in the following specialities: Liver & General, Trauma, and Neuro Intensive Care Units. She commenced her nursing career at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, working on the Liver and General Critical Care Unit. Rachel worked in Critical Care throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and her most recent post was Senior Staff Nurse in the Intensive Care at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Rachel has strong interests in Critical Care Nursing, Tracheostomy Care Hepatology and Nurse Education/ Pastoral Care.
