Colleen has worked in the NHS for 17 years before joining the university as a lecturer in adult nursing in 2016. Initially, Colleen worked as a registered general nurse in various ward settings such as medicine, orthopaedics and gynaecology before securing a post in the community and completing her BSc (Hons) in Primary Health Care Practice - District Nursing.                                                                                                                                                                                         Colleen has had various roles over the years including Team leader, Community Practice Teacher and Case Manager. Colleen has been able to combine her expertise in the field of health and social care with her passion for education and ultimately improve the service standards that were delivered to patients. Colleen has always been passionate about improving healthcare services and developing healthcare professionals to reach their potential.Her career naturally progressed into a full time academic role as Colleen believes that nurse education will provide her with an opportunity to influence student success and shape the next generation of nurses’ and ultimately influence the quality of care provided.
