Bernie St Aubyn has been a Senior Lecturer in Nursing at Birmingham City University over the last 14 years and has taught at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. She currently works on the BSc Nursing programme.

Prior to working at the University she worked as a registered Midwife and registered Health Visitor in the Community and Primary Care settings.  After a career as a health visitor Bernie worked in the Professional Development Unit in one of the local trusts before joining the teaching team at the university.

Bernie is passionate about Community Care and health Care Education and has written and published both in the UK and internationally.  She has presented at the RCN Education Conference in 2012 and is currently working on a STEAM funded bid looking at inter professional learning with the Faculty of Law.  This bid is looking at record keeping and the interface between the two professions.

Bernie is member of a Speakers’ Club (ASC), which specialises in Public Speaking.  She has reached the National Finals twice (2013 and 2016) and was the runner –up in 2016.  She is often asked to judge speaking competitions for ‘Youth Speaks’ (run by the Rotary Association) and the schools’ competition (run by the Soroptimist International Society).
