Tom Lawrence is the head of the Personalised Care Centre and has been engaged in health policy and academic roles since 2016 at Birmingham City University. His primary focus is on integrated and personalised care, where he leads initiatives in research, evaluations, and training.

He has collaborated with multiple organisations to help improve personalised care, including NHS England and the World Health Organisation. Additionally, he oversees nationally accredited CPD courses, which have trained over 300 professionals in care coordination, and has led national pilot studies.

Before his current role, Tom served as a Policy Advisor for NHS England at the national level, where he contributed to the Commissioning Strategy Directorate and supported significant contributions to initiatives such as the Five Year Forward View and the New Models of Care.

Tom’s experience also extends internationally, with two engagements at the World Health Organisation. There, he worked on health workforce projects, addressed healthcare challenges for the elderly, and worked on health workforce modelling techniques across European member states.

Earlier in his career, Tom was a Research Associate at Melbourne University, focusing on various health policy issues. Before that, he held a position as a Knowledge Transfer Associate at Birmingham City University, where he managed a project aimed at improving healthcare delivery.

Throughout his career, Tom has made notable contributions to health policy research and strategy at local, national, and international levels. He is known for his practical approach to health policy and knowledge exchange.
