Junior womenswear designer, Flex Apparel
Graduated in 2011
Fashion design graduate Rebecca Short had the surprise of a lifetime when one of her experimental outfits was worn by pop icon Lady Gaga in front of a worldwide audience.
Like all of our students, she was given the chance to put her work on show at Graduate Fashion Week in London, which is attended by industry leaders on the look-out for new talent. Rebecca's design was spotted by one of Lady Gaga's stylists and, just days later, the exotic singer was wearing the outfit during an event in Singapore.
Rebecca said she was encouraged in her pioneering approach by the University, while also being reminded to keep an eye on the real world of the fashion industry.
She is now working as a junior womenswear designer at Flex Apparel where her role includes interpreting the latest catwalk trends into original designs, drawing up technical specifications for manufacture and sourcing new garment and fabric ideas from overseas suppliers.
