Study abroad

Studying or working abroad can be a life changing opportunity that lets you gain new skills, meet new people and experience different cultures.

We offer lots of ways to go abroad for both staff and students. You can choose to study abroad as part of a University-wide exchange programme. This includes the chance to study in countries such as Brazil and the USA. If you choose to study or work abroad with Erasmus + you'll benefit from a grant that will cover part of the costs during your stay. We also welcome students and staff to visit our university.

Trip to Spain

If you opt for Primary Languages on the BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS course, you can undertake part of your training in Spanish primary schools.

Thanks to the excellent links we have with the University of Cordoba, you can spend four weeks on placement in a school in the Andalusian city. Not only does this give you the chance to put into practice your language skills, you also experience life in another culture.

The School has excellent links with tutors at the University of Cordoba, who support students while they study in Spain.

Student profile: Emily Deeley

“While studying on the BA Hons Primary Education course, I was given the opportunity to go and teach at a school in the picturesque city of Córdoba, Spain for two weeks.

The school, Colegio Alauda is a beautiful school which is situated in the north of Córdoba. We spent our time here teaching English to pupils of all ages - the pupils at Colegio Alauda were so welcoming, enthusiastic and excited to be learning English, I couldn't have asked for better pupils to work with.

This experience has enabled me to enhance my teaching skills, it has given me ever lasting memories and it has also made me realise just how important learning a foreign language is. I would recommend anyone who is offered this opportunity to take it, as I promise you this will be an experience that stays with you for life.”
