Thanh Trinh, recently graduated from the University with an MA in Public Relations, has been working on a project that aims to reduce the use of rhino horn in her home country, Vietnam.

The project is a proposal for WildAid -  a wildlife conservation organisation working strongly to protect animals that are in danger of extinction - planning a public awareness integrated campaign to reduce the consumption of rhino horn in Vietnam.

Thanh said:

The Red Horn campaign (the red horn standing for the poisoned rhino horns, the bloody trade and the red alert for the rhinos' extinction), consisted of a range of components that targeted different audiences through the relevant means of communication: editorials about the truth of media effects of rhino horns; endorsement of celebrity and scientific experts, on-ground activities like 'Save the Red horned rhino race' inspired by Big Hoot project in Birmingham, CEO roundtables to bring up the topic among the wealthy business class, social media activities that asked youngsters to share their opinions on the issue, social debate on the real causes of the issue, and an encyclopaedia website about rhino horns.

"The campaign required direct working with the clients, getting feedback from professors and peers, project management, transforming creative ideas into realistic outcomes.

I am pleased to say that the proposal was well received and highly evaluated by WildAid - the client and some parts of it are being implemented by them."
