Disability Tutor

Hello, I’m Nick, the Disability Tutor for health courses at Birmingham City University and I'm based at City South Campus.

I help students who are disabled, have chronic health conditions, or who have specific learning differences, including dyslexia, dyspraxia etc to plan for the practice placement component of their courses.

I am a registered Health professional (a Nurse by profession) and I am able to advise on professional body requirements and practice standards.

I am here to work with you to identify challenges which may crop up whilst you are away from the University undertaking practice based placements. Together with students I write Placement Action Plans (PAPs) which make recommendations for reasonable adjustments which students may require in practice settings.

If you are a disabled student or applicant or you have a chronic health condition which may be classed as a disability, you should seek advice from Student Services in the first instance so that a support summary can be discussed with you.

If you would like to talk to me regarding practice learning and disability, please do get in touch. You can reach me by telephone on 0121 202 4531 or via email at disability.tutor@bcu.ac.uk
